Foi aí que me lembrei do fantástico pão naan que comi no franchising House of Curry no Dubai! Que jantar incrível! Daqueles em que é difícil parar de comer, mesmo quando já estamos mais do que satisfeitos. Começou logo a abrir com um pão naan quentinho, com alho ou com queijo derretido que acabou por acompanhar o resto do jantar também, de tão bom que estava. Depois disso 4 tipos diferentes de caril, todos óptimos e picantes! (e eu que só conhecia o caril comum do supermercado!!!) Como podem imaginar, não houve espaço para sobremesas, nem sequer para pedir a lista! Por isso, não faço a mínima ideia do que é uma sobremesa típica indiana! Problema!!!! Jantar indiano sem sobremesa indiana! Acabei por não conseguir pesquisar nada a tempo mas prometo fazer uma pesquisa para melhorar os meus jantares temáticos! Acabei por fazer uma sobremesa à pressão. Ficou óptima na mesma e no fundo o que conta mesmo é estar com os amigos à volta da mesa, comer e beber bem! Sendo assim, o jantar indiano ficou pelo pão naan e pelo caril de frango com ananás e leite de coco (porque é assim que eu sei fazer, mas depois daqueles que experimentei, até tenho medo de ofender os senhores da Índia ao chamar aquilo de caril!!!!)
Resolvi então fazer uma pesquisa afincada por receitas de Pão Naan na Internet e estudá-las. Sabia à partida que dificilmente conseguiria eu mesma fazer um pão naan tão bom como o que tinha experimentado, por isso não estava com expectativas muito altas, mas achei que valia a pena experimentar. Optei pela receita de um blog norueguês que adoro e sigo semanalmente - Trines Matblog. Tem uma variedade de pratos para todos os gostos - entradas, sobremesas, diferentes tipos de pães, pratos típicos de diferentes países, receitas saudáveis, outras mais calóricas, simples, outras mais elaboradas,... Mas sempre com um excelente aspecto! Passem por lá, com a ajuda do Google Translate fica fácil de perceber e digam lá se não vale a pena?
Quanto ao pãozinho, apesar de não ter ficado tão bom como o que tinha provado (o que já imaginava!) estava muito, muito bom! Todos adoraram, incluindo os mais pequeninos. Deixo-vos a receita com a garantia de que vale a pena!

Some days ago, we decided to make plans for a theme dinner with some friends! It's a really nice idea and it's something we can plan for almost every week with different themes. When it was settled that "indian food" would be the theme for the first one, I remembered that I only know how to make curry!! What about all the other stuff such as starters and typical deserts?!
That's when I remembered the amazing naan bread that I had at House of Curry in Dubai. It was an unbelievable dinner - I just couldn't stop eating!! It started with some fresh out of the oven naan bread (simple, with cheese and with garlic). It was so nice that we just kept on ordering it throughout dinner. Then we tasted 4 different types of curry - all of them amazing and spicy! As you can imagine, there was just no room left for deserts... we didn't even order the menu! That's the reason why I don't have a clue of any type of indian desert and that's also the reason why there was no desert planned for our indian themed dinner. I ended up making a quick desert. It was good anyways and I guess that what really matters is the company of good friends around a table. In the end, our dinner consisted of naan bread and chicken curry with pineapple and coconut milk (because that's the only way I know how to do it but now that I tasted those exquisite ones, I'm afraid to offend people from India when calling it curry!!).
I decided to make a refined search on the Internet to find the perfect Naan Bread recipe and study it. I knew that I would probably not be able to bake such a good bread as the one I had tasted so my expectations were really small, but I decided that I wanted to try it anyway. I found a recipe that I liked on a norwegian website that I follow regularly - Trines Matblog. It has a great variety of dishes - starters, deserts, different types of bread, dishes from all around the world, healthy recipes, not so healthy recipes..... But always looking great! Stop by the website (use the help of Google Translate) and see for yourselves.
As for the the bread, even though it wasn't as good as the one I had had at the restaurant (as I imagined) it ended up being very very good. Everyone loved it, including the little ones! I will leave you the recipe with the promise that it's really worth it!

15g de fermento de padeiro
4 colheres de sopa de leite
2 colheres de sopa de açúcar
450g de farinha
1/2 colher de sopa de fermento em pó
1/2 colher de chá de sal
1,5dL de leite
1,5dL de iogurte natural
1 ovo batido
2 colheres de sopa de manteiga sem sal derretida
Manteiga sem sal derretida
Alho picado
Sementes de sésamo pretas ou coentros frescos picados
15g fresh yeast
4 tbs milk
2 tbs sugar
450g flour
1/2 tbs baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1,5dL milk
1,5dL yogurt
1 egg
2 tbs melted unsalted butter

Preparation
Misturar numa tacinha o fermento de padeiro, o leite morno e o açúcar e reservar durante alguns minutos até começar a borbulhar.
Colocar os ingredientes secos numa taça e juntar a mistura de fermento, o leite, os ovos, a manteiga e o iogurte. Bater (com pás de massa) durante cerca de 10 minutos, até obter uma massa elástica e suave.

Cobrir a taça com um pano e deixar a massa crescer durante cerca de 1 hora num local quente.

Cerca de 20 minutos antes de cozinhar o pão, levar um tabuleiro ao forno na temperatura máxima.
Colocar a massa numa superfície polvilhada com farinha e juntar um pouco mais de farinha se achar necessário.
Dividir a massa em 8 ou 10 porções mais pequenas. Esticar a massa até obter círculos com cerca de 3-5mm de altura.

Pincelar o pão com a manteiga derretida e polvilhar com as sementes de sésamo ou os coentros picados.
Colocar o pão naan no tabuleiro e levar ao forno imediatamente.

Para manter quente, embrulhar os pães em papel de alumínio até serem servidos.
